FAQ's
Q. What is difference in New Visions high-speed broadband vs. Cable or DSL?
A. The cable industry is using their existing cable network that was originally designed for one-way video. Although they have spent billions of dollars to upgrade their infrastructure, their network is still an asynchronous data network. That is, their download speeds and upload speeds are not the same. You’ll notice that cable companies advertise download speeds but very seldom discuss upload speeds.
DSL is an offering from your local telephone company. It utilizes their existing 100-year-old telephone network. DSL uses the same asynchronous network as we listed above.
New Visions is utilizing a new high-speed network specifically designed to meet the demands now and in the future. Our system utilizes a synchronous data network. Our network is designed to provide download and upload data speeds that can be the same.
Q. What is a community network?
A. A community network is a network that is shared by a large volume of subscribers. The cable industry typically uses this type of network. In this design, the more users that are on the network at the same time, the slower the individual network becomes. That is why you see advertisement that uses phrases as speeds “up to” or “burstable to”. Depending on the time of day, your use of this type of network may be fast or substantially slower.
Q. Does New Visions utilize this type of network?

Q. What does “up to” and “burstable” mean?
A. When a cable industry advertises “up to” and “burstable” speeds it typically means at certain times of the day you may see speeds that they are advertising. Typically, if you are using the Internet during peak periods, the download data speeds are much slower.
